Pam Morris completed 20 years of event planning in the Office of Special Events for the City of Chicago on June 30, 2009, and served as the guiding light of the world’s largest free-admission Gospel Music Festival. Appointed to this role in 1989 by Mayor Richard M. Daley, Pam Morris attracted top national and local talent and drew an audience from across the nation booking more than 2,000 Gospel groups and was instrumental in attracting corporate sponsors to underwrite the cost of the annual event.
Ms. Morris created, then coordinated Mayor Daley’s Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Interfaith Breakfast that featured such influential speakers as Dr. King’s daughter, Reverend Bernice A. King; Dr. King’s son, Martin Luther King, III; Ambassador Andrew Young; Dr. William Gray; Mayor Willie L. Brown of San Francisco, CA; Reverend Michael L. Pfleger; Bishop Horace E. Smith, M.D., Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, Jr. and Geoffrey Canada, CEO of Harlem Children’s Zone.
Pam’s background includes more than three dozen years as a radio host on various stations in the Chicago market. Pam currently hosts “Gospel with Pam Morris” on WVON 1690-AM on Sunday afternoons from 11AM to 3PM She has also worked on WWHN 1510-AM and WGCI-AM Gospel Radio 1390. Prior to WGCI, she was the host of the Sunday morning radio program called “The Inspirational Gospel Stroll,” for seven years on WVAZ-FM. Pam served as Interfaith Liaison for the United States House of Representatives in the Second District of Illinois. Ms. Morris also hosted “Gospel with Pam Morris,” a Gospel and inspirational music video program on Cable TV. She served on the (Grammy) Board of Governors of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences – Chicago Chapter. Pam is the 2006 Stellar Award Recipient for Gospel Radio announcer of the year. Pam is a motivational speaker, gospel consultant and advisor. She authored her first book, “Lessons Learned from Aunt Mabel & So Much More”. Awarded the 2010 Who’s Who in Black Chicago Award, 2010 Living Faith Church Lifetime Achievement Legacy Award, The City of Chicago Appreciation Award, the 2012 National Council of Negro Women Media Award and N’Digo’s N’Religion Award.
Pam resides in Chicago. As an authority on Gospel music, Pam recorded two albums and has been recognized as an international Gospel consultant who provided services to a diverse list of entertainment venues that includes: The Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy; The Gospel and Soul Easter Festival in Terni, Italy; and The Tree of Life Gospel Event in Durbin, South Africa; and serves as a consultant to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Lead Ambassador for American Heart Association Power to End Stroke Most Powerful Voices Gospel Tour. Ms. Morris also appeared as a celebrity judge on TLN’s hit reality show, Inspiration Sensation.
She has two adult sons, John Morris III and Lt. Commander Kenneth Morris and three (3) grandchildren, Christopher, Sheridan and Chloe.
