Perri Small Perri R. Small is one of the city’s most astute journalists on social issues, politics and education. She has more than 30 years of experience in print and broadcast journalism and often participates on forums and townhall meetings as a panelist and/or moderator.
She began her career covering City Hall and “Council Wars” after the city elected its first African-American mayor, the late Harold Washington. She was later asked to join the Administration as an assistant press secretary.
Years later Perri joined WVON-AM/1690 as an executive producer. Soon thereafter she hosted evening shows and the coveted morning drive. She produces special projects, including the critically acclaimed radio documentary, “From 0-50: How Mayor Richard M. Daley Marginalized Black Politics in Chicago.”
