Calandra Corder
Monday through Friday 2:30pm - 7pm Ms. Calandra Corder is the Evening News Anchor for WVON 1690AM, The Talk of Chicago. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and English from Stillman College. From 1996 - 2007, Ms. Corder was News Anchor/Airborne traffic reporter for AM 750 WSB in Atlanta, GA. Most recently, Ms. Corder has served as guest speaker and host for AT&T, Georgia Bureau Investigation (GBI), American Women Business Association (AWBA), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Southern Arts Federation and numerous churches. From 1989 - 1991, Ms. Corder was News Director and Talk Show Host for WTUG-WTSK FM/AM in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Prior to WTUG-WTSK, she interned and was an announcer for WACR-FM in Columbus, Mississippi. The Atlanta Association of Black Journalist awarded "Best Individual Talent-Anchor" to Ms Corder in 2001. In addition, the Associated Press honored her in 1988 and 1999 for "Best News Cast: along with her WSB peers. Ms. Corder was proud to be a part of a News Team, who just won "six" 2002 and 2005 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards. If asked what her highest achievement in journalism is, without a doubt Calandra would say receiving the Marconi Award along with her peers for "Legendary Station of the Year" from the National Association of Broadcasters. That award is known as the "grandaddy" of them all. Calandra is an avid snorkler and loves to read, travel, listen to live jazz and attend gospel plays. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and National Association of Black Journalist.
