Perri left Chicago city government and relocated to Atlanta where she worked with the Atlanta Daily World newspaper and the APEX Museum as a media consultant. Feeling home sick, Perri returned to Chicago and was hired as a producer for WVON 1450am Drake Collier morning program. She was quickly promoted to Executive Producer and responsible for producing "On Target". She soon had her own show called "Small Talk". "I never thought I would have a career behind the mic, but I know I love it as much, if more, than writing," declares Perri.

Boy, there is some real city drama going on this week and it is something I haven’t seen since 1978 when the city’s building inspectors were busted for taking bribes. I remember so clearly because I because I remember frantically trying to call my father from my college dorm room to find out if he still had a job or should i start packing. Not one of the black inspectors were indicted or accused. But the feds tried to get them. They were just too honest.
Today we see the Daley clan in some turmoil because Mayor Daley’s nephew, Robert Vanecko , is embroiled in a scandal that is not really a scandal but a disgrace.
How does the Mayor’s nephew start a new business and take control of the city’s pension fund and make mad profits on citywide real estate investments. Imagine, becoming a millionaire during a recession and with a new business. It is possible he was awarded this sweetheart deal because he is the Mayor’s nephew, but also because if very white looking partner is actually black. (yeah, I went there).
It is being reported today that Vanecko is dissolving his relationship with the firm July 1. It was also reported that the mayor asked him to dissolve the relationship two years ago, but it wasn’t until the inspector general’s officeand the U.S. Attorney General announced the investigation that the issue became high priority.
I don’t think that that any of the Daley scandal hits as close to home as this one that involves a yourng, handsome and wealthy family member. Besides the some $480,000 paid to the company in the last 15 months, they have made a killing on some of the real estate investments from the pension fund they manage. However, some of these investments are reported not worth as much as when the properties were secured.
The $480,000 paid was by the city to lease some property. . The city started leasing the space in October 2007. Will this have an impact on Mr. Daley? Some. Will he mayor be absolved from any knowledge or wrongdoing? Certainly? Should we replace the entire City Council for having absolutely no backbone? Absolutely.

Good Morning Family:
I could talk about how much I love Michelle Obama because we talked about how she has possibly changed the image of black women. But I won’t.
I would like to talk about Operation Safe Passage. How sad is this. Kids no longer are safe going back and forth to school. There are some ninjas out there that think it is ok to terrorize our community, kill our children and make my life a living hell.
There is an effort to ask volunteers to saturate the community before and after school hours so that they can keep an eye on our vulnerable children. Isn’t that what parents do. Let’s start with those who are responsible for the predators.
Fr. Mike Phleger, pastor of the faith community of St. Sabina, I love dearly –But he could turn the American flag right side up and their parents and guardians could be held upside down. I know the American flag is flown that way in times of distress, but the stress was caused by people who know exactly what they are doing and could care less who they destroy. Send their parents out on the streets so they can identify who we should fear.
