Matt McGill
The Native Chicagoan's charismatic charm brought him to WVON after a one time meeting with the station's President. He attended Santa Monica College majoring in broadcasting and hosted a radio talk show for two years. Matt returned to Chicago where he provided media relations for area radio stations. His first love is meeting people and finding his special way to touch the pulse of the nation.

Perri Small
A Chicago native Perri is a veteran print and broadcast journalist. One year after graduation from college, she had her dream job as an intern at the Chicago Defender newspaper. During her internship, Perri was hired by the Chicago Citizen Newspaper during the height of the City of Chicago's "Council Wars". While covering Chicago, Cook County and Illinois politics, Perri was asked to join Mayor Harold Washington's Press Office as an Assistant Press Secretary.

Perri left Chicago city government and relocated to Atlanta where she worked with the Atlanta Daily World newspaper and the APEX Museum as a media consultant. Feeling home sick, Perri returned to Chicago and was hired as a producer for WVON 1450am Drake Collier morning program. She was quickly promoted to Executive Producer and responsible for producing "On Target". She soon had her own show called "Small Talk". "I never thought I would have a career behind the mic, but I know I love it as much, if more, than writing," declares Perri.

Blog with Matt and Perri

The Matt and Perri show started on a much different note today. We first discussed the number two in command of Al Qaeda calling President Elect Barack Obama a “house negro”. Is this just a way to communicate to the rest of Al Qaeda forces that the United States is still the enemy, or was his message mis-translated?

Then we came more local and discussed the $6 billion budget that passed today. It’s mighty funny that all these alderman disagree with it, but only one voted against it. As a city, we should be tired of the government putting the burden on the back of the real working people of the city. We need to find a way to get this on the ballot so that the people that are really suffering from this budget can have a voice.

Proposition 8 is gaining more and more momentum as the weeks go on. Now people are trying to compare the Black civil rights movement with the civil rights of gays. Today Mary Mitchell, a Sun-Times columnist, discussed this issue with us with some ties to the Bible and other oppositions to gay marriage.
